Nowadays, with people living at such a fast pace and busy commuting to work or going out to work, sometimes I worry whether leaving my dog at home for so long might cause it to poop urgently. So the question arises: how long can dogs actually hold their pee? What is the relationship between their poop habits and their health status? This time, we'll explain everything clearly so you can be more confident in caring for your furry friend! 🕒 How long can an adult dog generally go without pooping? Most healthy adult dogs usually want to go to the bathroom about an hour after eating. But if they really have to endure, they can actually hold out for 12 hours or even longer. That means even if you're stuck in traffic or work late, it doesn't mean something will happen right away. But keep in mind: just because your dog can hold it doesn't mean they're comfortable. Think about how tough it is to be unable to find a bathroom in a hurry. Dogs can also struggle, but they don't know when you'll come back and let them out. It is all great fun. But in such hot weather, it can actually be very dangerous for dogs! We can put on light clothes and switch on the air conditioning to cool down, but dogs cannot take their coat off, and once their body temperature rises things can go wrong quickly. What Is GDV (Bloat) in Large Dogs?

Gastric dilatation-volvulus in large dogs, also known as bloat and twisted stomach (Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus), is an emergency and life-threatening condition that mainly affects medium and large breeds. Put simply, the dog's stomach suddenly fills with gas and swells up (possibly from swallowing too much air), and then the stomach twists 180 degrees or even 360 degrees, cutting off its blood supply and trapping other organs, causing tissue death inside the body that can kill within a very short time. 💥Why does GDV happen? The causes are not fully understood, but the following factors carry a relatively high risk: Eating too fast or too much: finishing everything in one sitting, or wolfing food down, makes it easy to swallow a lot of air. Activity straight after eating: running or jumping about, for example, makes it easier for the stomach to shift position. Eating one large meal a day: not splitting food into several meals increases pressure on the stomach. Eating more dry food than wet food: dry food absorbs water and swells more easily. Anxious dogs: nervous, easily startled dogs swallow more air. Family history: certain breeds carry a higher genetic risk. 👀What symptoms should you look out for? GDV is…

Chocolate Cocoa beans contain Theobromine and methylxanthines, which are harmful to pets. After eating, symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea and trembling may appear; in severe cases it can cause irregular heartbeat and even be fatal. Chewing gum Chewing gum contains xylitol (Xylitol, commonly nicknamed "saai lok to"). After eating it, the pet's blood sugar level drops, which may cause general weakness, disorientation and trembling; the liver may be damaged and in severe cases even suffer necrosis. Melon seeds The melon seeds we usually eat contain a lot of salt, and excessive sodium can affect a pet's liver and kidney function. Turnip cake / New Year cake These cakes contain a lot of fat; after eating them, diarrhoea and vomiting may occur, and they can even cause pancreatitis. New Year flowers (e.g. lilies, daffodils) The leaves, pollen and petals of lilies contain toxins that can cause kidney failure or vomiting in cats. If a cat's paw touches a lily and it then licks it, the toxin may enter the body, and in severe cases it can be fatal. Finally, BC PETS wishes all our customers and your pets a safe, healthy and joyful New Year ^^

When you find a tick:

Never pull it out by force! Never squeeze it until it bursts, or the eggs will all come out!

1)Never grab the tick's body and yank it out carelessly, as this can cause the tick's are in their saliva or blood

to be injected into the pet's skin, or leave its mouthparts stuck on the pet, increasing the risk of disease infection,

so you must first use alcohol or a tick-repellent spray to make the tick's mouth loosen!

Cat Acne

Lots of black spots on your cat's chin?

It's actually a common feline skin condition - [Feline Acne]

Chinese New Year Precautions (Cat Edition)

Chinese New Year is almost here! We believe everyone will be cleaning up and decorating their home before the New Year,

and households with furkids should pay special attention to the following few points!

p2

1. Keep the candy box covered

We believe everyone will prepare a beautiful candy box, and the lid must always be kept closed.

Because the colourful sweet wrappers inside are extremely attractive toys to cats,

they cannot resist grabbing them to play with, and there is a chance they may swallow them by mistake, causing choking or other gastrointestinal problems.

If children come to visit for the New Year, take good care of how the cats and children get along.

Sometimes children want to share the snacks in their hands with the cats, such as dried shredded squid,

but snacks meant for people are too strongly flavoured for cats,

and place a great burden on the cats' digestive system.

 2. Set aside a private hiding space

Many relatives will come to visit during the New Year,
