I already take my cat for a regular health check every year, do I still need occult-blood cat litter? We recommend still using it for daily monitoring
Regular health checks are vital for your pet and are an effective way to understand your cat’s health. But since the gap between each check-up is fairly long, we still highly recommend that, on top of regular check-ups, owners also use occult-blood litter day to day, so your cat can easily undergo urine testing anytime, 24 hours a day.
If I normally use deodorising spray, will it affect the reading of the occult-blood litter? Deodorising products can indeed affect the reading
Deodorising products usually contain various chemical ingredients. While using occult-blood cat litter/granules, we recommend avoiding mixing them with products such as deodorising sprays and deodorising powders, so as not to affect the reading.
Can occult-blood litter also be flushed down the toilet? Yes, it can!
Occult-blood litter = strip-type tofu litter + occult-blood granules, and the main ingredient of the occult-blood granules is actually the same as tofu litter, so it can be flushed down the toilet too.
Will the occult-blood granules in the occult-blood cat litter stop working? Under normal use, there won’t be any misreading! However, because the occult-blood granules detect occult blood in urine through an “oxidation reaction”, you need to keep them away from strong oxidisers (for example: bleach, hydrogen peroxide) so as not to affect the granules’ detection results.
Also, for the best detection results, please use immediately after opening and replace the whole tray within 30 days, to avoid overly long exposure to air affecting detection accuracy.
Can occult-blood cat litter/granules be mixed with other cat litter? To keep detection results at their best, the occult-blood granules are only suitable for use with tofu litter.
Because mineral litter varies greatly in ingredients and raw-material sources across brands, we don’t recommend pairing it with the occult-blood granules, to avoid abnormal readings.
How do the occult-blood granules work?
When liquid containing haemoglobin triggers the reaction layer inside a granule, the granule turns from white to blue. But if the blood only stays on the surface of the granule and doesn’t seep and soak into it, it won’t change colour!
The base of the occult-blood granules is similar to tofu litter, so when your pet pees as usual the granules can quickly absorb the urine for reading, and pet parents can use them with peace of mind.
Is it normal for the occult-blood granules themselves to look a bit yellow? Yes, it’s normal~ Due to the manufacturing process, the occult-blood granules themselves may appear white or yellow, so both of these colours are normal and pet parents can use them with peace of mind! Also, only when a granule turns blue does it indicate that your pet may have an occult-blood issue.
