From 7 November 2021, the animals specified under the Road Traffic Ordinance (Cap. 374) now include cats and dogs. This means that when a traffic accident causes injury to a dog or cat, the driver must stop!

If a driver fails to stop after an accident, they may be fined HK$10,000 and imprisoned for twelve months; and if they fail to provide their personal particulars and fail to report to the police as soon as possible and no later than twenty-four hours after the accident, they may be fined HK$15,000 and imprisoned for six months.
